【摘要】:Ionbeamsareutilizedinsurfaceanalysisintwoways.First,theycangeneratesignalsfromthespecimen,forexample,inSIMSandISS.Second,theycanremovematerialfromthespecimensurfacewhileasurfaceanalyticaltechniquedeterminesthecompositionofthefreshlyexposedsurface.Thisprocessiscalledsputterdepthprofiling.Ideally,thisguiderequiresreportingallcharacteristicsoftheionbeamthatcanpossiblyaffecttheresultssothatthemeasurementcanbereproduced.1.1Thisguidecoverstheinformationneededtocharacterizeionbeamsusedinsurfaceanalysis.1.2Thisguidedoesnotcoverallinformationrequiredtoperformasputterdepthprofile(seereferenceddocuments),specifyanypropertiesofthespecimenexceptitssurfacenormal,anddiscusstherationaleforchoosingaparticularsetofionbeamparameters(1,7).Thisguidedoesassumethattheionfluxhasauniquedirection,thatis,isanionbeam,ratherthanawidespectrumofvelocityvectorsmoretypicalofaplasma.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
