【摘要】:Shearstrengthobtainedbyatoolofthepunchtypeisoneoftherecognizedmethodsofcomparingmaterialsorobtainingdataforengineeringdesign.However,itmustberecognizedthatforend-useapplicationtheremaybemanyfactorsnottakenintoaccountinthistestmethod,suchasstress-concentratinggeometriesandratesofshear,whichcanprofoundlyaffectshearstrength.Moreover,thefactthattheshearstrengthiscalculatedbydividingtheloadbytheareaoftheshearededge(circumferenceXthickness)shouldnotbeinterpretedasindicatingthattheshearstrengthvaluesoobtainedissolelyamaterialproperty,independentofthickness.Formanymaterials,theremaybeaspecificationthatrequirestheuseofthistestmethod,butwithsomeproceduralmodificationsthattakeprecedencewhenadheringtothespecification.Therefore,itisadvisabletorefertothatmaterialspecificationbeforeusingthistestmethod.Table1ofClassificationSystemD4000liststheASTMmaterialsstandardsthatcurrentlyexist.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthepunch-typeofsheartestandisintendedforuseindeterminingtheshearstrengthoftestspecimensoforganicplasticsintheformofsheetsandmoldeddisksinthicknessesfrom0.127to12.7mm(0.050to0.500in.).1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothisstandard.
