【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesalaboratorytestprocedureformeasuringandcomparingthesurfaceflammabilityofmaterialswhenexposedtoaprescribedlevelofradiantheatenergy.Itisintendedforuseinmeasurementsofthesurfaceflammabilityofmaterialsexposedtofire.Thetestisconductedusingsmallspecimensthatarerepresentative,totheextentpossible,ofthematerialorassemblybeingevaluated.(Example:intermsoftheirthickness,layering,andanypotentialsubstrate.)Therateatwhichflameswilltravelalongsurfacesdependsuponthephysicalandthermalpropertiesofthematerial,productorassemblyundertest,thespecimenmountingmethodandorientation,thetypeandleveloffireorheatexposure,theavailabilityofair,andpropertiesofthesurroundingenclosure.Inthisprocedure,thespecimensaresubjectedtooneormorespecificsetsoflaboratoryfiretestconditions.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheend-useconditionsarechanged,itisnotalwayspossiblebyorfromthistesttopredictchangesinthefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasured.Therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefiretestexposureconditionsdescribedinthisprocedure.Ifthetestresultsobtainedbythistestmethodaretobeconsideredaspartofanoverallassessmentoffirehazardinabuildingorstructure,thentheexamplecriteria,conceptsandproceduresincorporatedintoGuideE1546shallbetakenintoconsideration.1.1Thisfire-test-responsestandarddescribesthemeasurementofsurfaceflammabilityofmaterials.Itisnotintendedforuseasabasisofratingsforbuildingcodepurposes(seeAppendixX1).1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandardmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5Firetestingofproductsandmaterialsisinherentlyhazardous,andadequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.Thistestmethodmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.SpecificinformationabouthazardisgiveninSection7.Note18212;ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOstandard.
